CPUC Public Forum This Friday, Feb. 1 at 6 P.M.

SDG&E, Don't gas and gouge us!

All San Diegans are urged to attend.

HELD AT:  Al Bahr Temple/Shriner's Auditorium: 5440 Kearny Mesa Rd., SD, 92111 (map on attached flyer.) Located between 805 and 15. South of 52. Just West of 163.

Located behind Hampton Inn Hotel. Parking is free. Carpool if possible!

This forum matters to ALL San Diegans.

Strong public support is needed to urge the CPUC to uphold their Proposed Decision regarding three UN-NEEDED power plants in San Diego County.

The Proposed Decision, if adopted, can prevent the emission of over 900,000 annual tons of greenhouse gases by denying purchase power tolling agreements. The most significant of these plants are Pio Pico, estimated to release 685,000 annual tons of GHGs and Quail Brush with over 200 annual tons.

SAN DIEGANS would be saddled with at least $1.2 billion in construction and finance costs for Pio Pico and Quail Brush in exchange for  23 permanent jobs, while in contrast, a San Diego Energy District plan to accelerate the adoption of distributed roof top solar can create thousands of clean energy jobs that keep funds circulating locally.

The energy industry is lobbying heavily to get the CPUC Proposed Decision reversed.

It's worse than mentioned, they have plans to spend tens of $Billions of dollars on energy sprawl in our deserts, giving away our public lands to the likes of Goldman Sachs and the Carlyle Group. Who will pay? You will pay. Meanwhile the rooftops sit vacant. Attend the CPUC meeting Friday and voice your opposition to an ill conceived energy policy that includes these horrific polluters. (next to a school and in a park!) .

Thank you to everyone who attended Friday's CPUC Public Forum. The CPUC will have to take into consideration the hundreds of concerned citizens who attended and voiced their opposition to Quail Brush. The final CPUC decision will be made on February 13th.

Did you first ask him WHAT he was spraying? Is it possible that he heard some attitude in yourRead More request and then felt that you were "just another nosy neighbor" ? -- Not that you are or were. -- If the overspray was in fact a listed chemical (such as glyphosate or 2,4,D) then you are within your right to be concerned. If he he unresponsive or unwilling to allay your concerns then it is your right and responsibility to contact the authorities. In the case that he was (or you have sound reason to believe, i.e., dead plants on your property) using a listed chemical such as above then contact California Department of Pesticide Regulation at the Southern Regional Office 714-279-7690. I will warn you that if you only suspect misuse and have no proof, there will be nothing done. Good Luck.

I'm a 20-year vet. While in the US NAVY serving on Okinawa, Japan, I managed the Command Duty OfficeRead More for 1-1/2 years. I had 3 flag poles for US, UN, and Japan. Winds were typically over 40 to 50 mhp and flag wear was constant. I had to destroy flags frequently. My "ceremony" was private, out of public site, the flag was in a paper bag, never seen by anybody. I don't care who you are or your intentions, but a burning US flag should never be a ceremony, nor recorded, unless in protest against US policy.

I totally agree with this C.C.!! How awful to see our trees treated in this most disrespectful way!Read More Not only does driving nails into the trees open them up to disease, it looks so very tacky! Come on, folks, isn't there a better way to advertise your yard sales???
Mercedes Winton Jones June 16, 2013 at 03:51 pm
I think signs should have an date & address on them, that way if they are left up afterwards,Read More there would be some way to fine people. Place the fine on the property. I love garage sales, and signs are necessary, but they have to come down afterwards.
