I went to the RPG meetings and objected to the ill conceived and 'blame' game. The traffic engineer…Read More said the blame for the long delays coming into Ramona in the evening was Mussy Grade people turning left in front of us (Ramona people being so polite we stop to let them pass and hold up traffic). Which is garbage, we are ALREADY stopped when we let them through. Seriously if we were driving along at 50 mph no one would let them through. I even asked him to explain why my drive out of Ramona in the morning is crawling all the way to Mt. Woodson if it is the Dye Road light coming in?? These guys were a joke! Nothing he said held water, and that was proof. He manipulated his program to make it show if he made Dye Rd 6-8 lanes wide, our traffic would go away. Here is a common sense approach I told him: just give us a turn lane that starts back at Mussy Grade for the Estates people to turn and get out of the traffic and give them a double left turn lane to get onto 67. Funny how as soon as I am past Dye, its clear sailing. No need to a big massive 6-8 lanes each way and an stop light at Mussy Grade! That would make it worse. Honestly I dont mind the traffic coming into Ramona if it keeps the population down. ;)
The high level of traffic on Main street runs counter to the idea of "more business". If…Read More higher traffic actually led to more business then every business would want to be just off a freeway. Lower and slower traffic leads to more people stopping, parking and shopping. What is the speed limit around shopping malls?
Slower and less threatening traffic makes for a better business climate, safer and more friendly for bikes and pedestrians. Better streets = better towns.
Did you first ask him WHAT he was spraying? Is it possible that he heard some attitude in your…Read More request and then felt that you were "just another nosy neighbor" ? -- Not that you are or were. -- If the overspray was in fact a listed chemical (such as glyphosate or 2,4,D) then you are within your right to be concerned. If he he unresponsive or unwilling to allay your concerns then it is your right and responsibility to contact the authorities. In the case that he was (or you have sound reason to believe, i.e., dead plants on your property) using a listed chemical such as above then contact California Department of Pesticide Regulation at the Southern Regional Office 714-279-7690.
I will warn you that if you only suspect misuse and have no proof, there will be nothing done.
Good Luck.
Sorry dont have an answer for your problem. I had a problem with a neighbor and had to sell my home…Read More to get away from them. However, I wanted to point out something you may not have thought about. Your fruit tree stores those chemicals in the fruit and you ingest them if you eat it! If he wont tell you what he sprayed, throw away the fruit this year. My advice is dont plant fruit trees near a property line because you cannot control what they absorb through their roots either. It isnt worth you or your family getting sick. Fruits and vegetables must be sprayed with certain types of sprays to allow them to be edible. Just not worth the risk.
I'm a 20-year vet. While in the US NAVY serving on Okinawa, Japan, I managed the Command Duty Office…Read More for 1-1/2 years. I had 3 flag poles for US, UN, and Japan. Winds were typically over 40 to 50 mhp and flag wear was constant. I had to destroy flags frequently. My "ceremony" was private, out of public site, the flag was in a paper bag, never seen by anybody. I don't care who you are or your intentions, but a burning US flag should never be a ceremony, nor recorded, unless in protest against US policy.
According to the National Flag Code, any American flag that is worn, damaged or tattered beyond…Read More repair should be retired in a respectful and dignified manner. The preferred method is burning. This may shock some people, since it is a well known fact that burning the flag is illegal. This, however, is an exception to the rule. You can burn the flag yourself, making sure it is done in a discreet and professional manner, or many organizations like the American Legion, the Boy Scouts Council and the Girl Scouts Council will perform a flag retirement ceremony and burn your flag for you. In this case, burning signifies purification and rebirth. Although burning is the preferred method, it is also acceptable to seal your old flag in a box or bag and bury it. The most important factor is showing respect to the flag during its disposal.

I totally agree with this C.C.!! How awful to see our trees treated in this most disrespectful way!…Read More Not only does driving nails into the trees open them up to disease, it looks so very tacky! Come on, folks, isn't there a better way to advertise your yard sales???
I think signs should have an date & address on them, that way if they are left up afterwards,…Read More there would be some way to fine people. Place the fine on the property. I love garage sales, and signs are necessary, but they have to come down afterwards.
Thank each of you so much for your input. I will pass it along.. Janice Baldridge, Marketing…Read More Coordinator, 760-310-5107 janice.baldridge@sdcea.net
