Robin Koch is Ramona Teacher of the Year

The first-grade teacher at Barnett Elementary will represent the district in the statewide Teacher of the Year program.

First-graders in Robin Koch's class at Barnett Elementary had a reason to cheer recently. Their teacher was named Ramona Unified School District Teacher of the Year.

Koch has 24 years of teaching experience. She grew up in Ramona and is a graduate of Ramona High School.

She will now represent Ramona Unified in the California State Teacher of the Year Program.

Koch has taught all grade levels, K-6, during her tenure in Ramona at two different school sites. She also taught at Hanson Elementary.

She attended UC Santa Barbara and SDSU for her bachelor's degree and teaching credential and holds a Masters Degree from Azusa Pacific University.

Koch married a Ramona High School graduate, who was twice Wrestling Coach of the Year in North County — Steve Koch — according to a news release from the school district.
