Heavy Snow Expected Over Weekend

Snow is expected to fall to 2,000 feet from Friday night through Saturday night, with Mt. Laguna likely to get 2 feet of snow. A Winter Storm Watch will be in effect Friday through Saturday.

The National Weather Service warns that a Winter Storm Watch will be in effect Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon for areas above 3,500 feet in San Diego county. Motorists driving in those areas should take chains and check for conditions before traveling.

Snow may fall in the highest elevations of Ramona Friday night through Saturday night.

The National Weather Service reports that a storm from Canada will dump rain and snow throughout Southern California beginning Friday evening.

Snow may fall as low as 2,000 feet by Saturday morning, so high areas such as Mt. Woodson and Mt. Gower may get some coverage. There may be some local snow showers that could drop snow lower.

Rain and thunderstorms are also expected through Sunday morning. Meteorologists anticipate partly sunny weather Sunday through Tuesday.
