Stan Elasser, 35, was in the county jail Thursday, accused of stealing a vehicle, evading law enforcement and other charges.

A 35-year-old Ramona man was in custody in jail Thursday accused of leading deputies on a chase in a stolen vehicle that plowed through a fence, collided with a second fence and got stuck, according to authorities.

Stan Elasser was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of felony evading, unlawful taking of a vehicle and other unspecified charges, according to San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. Christina Bavencoff in a news release.

The incident reportedly began at 8th and I streets at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. A deputy spotted a stolen vehicle and watched it for a while. When a man got into the vehicle, deputies tried to stop him at a traffic stop but he is reported to have driven through the stop and taken deputies on a chase through Ramona.
