Planning Group Addresses Starbucks Drive-Thru Traffic Issue

The group was responding to a letter from a resident that's worried about morning congestion around the coffeeshop.

The Starbucks drive-thru on Main Street has been causing traffic problems during the morning rush, an issue the Ramona Planning Group discussed last week.

The group was responding to a letter from a worried resident who wrote that it was often difficult to turn left onto 13th Street from SR-67 when the lines from the coffeeshop are long in the morning, and that sometimes the line goes out of the driveway onto SR-67.

To exacerbate matters, the long drive-thru lines have made it difficult for some people to get to the Ramona Ambulatory Care Center on 13th Street during emergencies, the board said.

The group decided that a letter should be sent to Starbucks, the County and Caltrans about the issue.

"Maybe Starbucks can be good neighbors and help with this situation," said planning group Chair Jim Piva.

COMMENT: Do you think the long morning lines at the Starbucks drive-thru are a problem?
