New Rooster Ordinance Is in the Works

The county gives initial approval to plans to lower the number allowable on certain properties.

In an attempt to reduce cockfighting, the county Board of Supervisors has given preliminary approval to a new ordinance that allows only one rooster on properties under half an acre.

The ordinance would allow up to 20 roosters on properties that are at least five acres.

Supervisor Bill Horn voted against it. A final vote is scheduled next month.
