Man and Woman Die in Julian Traffic Accident Sunday

The vehicle rolled down an embankment early in the morning.

Two people died early Sunday when the vehicle they were traveling in rolled down an embankment in the Pine Hills area of Julian, California Highway Patrol reports.

The accident happened on Pine Ridge Road off Pine Hills Road at about 1:05 a.m.

No names have been released pending notification of the families. The cause of the accident is still under investigation Monday.

A man and woman in the vehicle were traveling southbound when they drifted off the roadway and then overcorrected, Officer Brian Pennings of the highway patrol said Monday. The vehicle rolled down an embankment, he said. A preliminary investigation shows that the people were not wearing seatbelts and they were ejected from the vehicle, sustaining fatal injuries, Pennings reported.

He said the man was aged 20 and the woman was aged 21.
