Lakeside Man Arrested on Suspicion of Slaying Woman

Timothy Ralph Danielson is under guard in hospital recovering from an apparent suicide attempt after allegedly shooting to death a woman reported to be his former wife.

Authorities have arrested a Lakeside man on suspicion of shooting to death a woman early Monday morning.

The incident occurred before 4:45 a.m. in a home in the 10,000 block of New Bedford Court, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Department.

Timothy Ralph Danielson was arrested later on Monday and lies in hospital under guard, recovering from an apparent suicide attempt.

Sheriff's deputies from the Santee and Alpine stations responded to the home after receiving a phone call from a woman who said her brother-in-law had emailed her to say he had just shot the woman.

According to a report by SignOnSanDiego.com, Danielson, 63, is an engineer who has worked at an El Cajon aerospace company since 1971. The article states that the deceased woman was Ming Qi, although authorities have not identified the woman publicly. SignOnSanDiego.com reports that Qi and Danielson had divorced but she had moved back in with him for financial reasons.

The Sheriff's Department stated Monday that Danielson was found with a portable generator and had been inhaling carbon monoxide when he was found in the home.
