Attention Vintners: Workshop for Update to County Winery Rules
The county is asking for input from Ramona winemakers.
The county is calling on local winemakers, including Ramona's, to give input for the final draft that will update how wineries can operate in the region.
The county's Planning & Development Services is holding a stakeholder workshop on the County Tiered Winery Ordinance (CTWO) on Friday, and an RSVP is required by Jan. 15.
The CTWO was approved by the county in 2010 and allows a tiered system of permitting for wineries depending on the amount of wine produced and the size of the operation. An important piece of the ordinance, especially for Ramona, was the creation of a Boutique Winery tier, which allowed for tasting rooms onsite of smaller vineyards.
This update to the CTWO is meant to resolve a number of issues have arisen with implementing the original ordinance.
The county describes the event:"The purpose of the workshop is to solicit input from interested parties on proposed changes to the Tiered Winery Ordinance. Information gathered at the workshop will be evaluated and used to formulate the final draft documents to be presented to the County Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors at upcoming public hearings."
The workshop will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 17 in the public hearing chambers at the San Diego County Operations Center located at 5520 Overland Avenue. The county asks that you RSVP no later than Jan. 15 to Joe Farace atjoseph.farace@sdcounty.ca.gov or 858-694-3690.
