Vandals Tag Ramona High School Property; 3 Arrests Made

The Sheriff's Department said the graffiti was "gang-related."

An estimated $300 worth of damage was done to Ramona High School property after a group of vandals tagged a sports structure last Friday morning, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said.

Deputy Ruben Medina said school officials reported the crime at about 6:50 a.m. on March 1. Deputies arrived and found three suspects "down the street," close to school property.

"They were caught in the act," Medina said of the suspects. "They were positively identified by Ramona High staff."

The sheriff's deputy said that the graffiti was tagged near the baseball diamond that sits at the back of the school. He said it had gang-related ties to RTLS, or Ramona Town Locals.

No pictures were available of the graffiti.

According to the sheriff's department, two juveniles were taken into custody, as well as 24-year-old Angel Lopez, who was charged with parole violation, vandalism, stolen property, assisting in delinquency of minors and theft.

Medina said Lopez was wearing a stolen San Diego County Jail shirt he had taken from his previous time in jail at the time of his arrest.
