U-T San Diego Launches Interactive "Murder Map"

The map features all reported murders in San Diego County since 2010, and can be searched by age, race, gender and year.

U-T San Diego has created an interactive "murder map" for San Diego County.

The map charts all reported murders in the county since 2010, but does not include those ruled as self-defense killings or officer-involved shootings.

Ramona has experienced three suspected murders in that span, and the victims run the gamut.

A baby died last July in what police suspect was a child abuse incident.

A  man was sentenced last June for bludgeoning his 94-year-old neighbor, Mary Jean Eskridge, to death.

Shane M. Tatro, 38, was shot in what police suspect was an altercation over the purchase of marijuana.

All three incidents occurred last year.

Suspected murders in San Diego County increased to 110 in 2012, the first time to top 100 since 2010, according to the U-T report. The report attributes this rise to a jump in gang-related killings.

The county has logged 45 homicides so far this year, according to the U-T.
