Report of Attempted Abduction Monday Near Ramona High School

Parents were warned after a female student made a report.

Deputies were searching Monday for a man believed to have attempted an abduction near Ramona High School in the morning. Other schools were notified of the incident by the school district and parents were notified. 

Superintendent Robert Graeff reported to Patch via email:

"Before lunch today, my office received a phone report from the RHS principal.  Shortly thereafter, we sent the following message to our school sites and separately asked several of the principals to contact their parents via their phone all-call system:

"This morning while an RHS student was on her way to school on San Vicente, near the propane tanks on San Vicente Road and 11th, a white male, approximately 50 years old with a white beard, white hair, white hat, green jacket, plaid shirt in a gray sedan asked her if she wanted her a ride.  She told him no.  He assertively told her to get in the car.  She ran into the field, he did not follow.  Student went to school.  Mom picked her up at school, took her home, deputies met her there.  Deputies are searching for the man."

Sgt. Christina Bavencoff confirmed that deputies interviewed the girl at her home.

"We are getting calls today from people who think they might have seen something," she said. "Our best eyes and ears are the people out in the community."
