Red Flag Warning Canceled

Calmer winds have decreased fire chances in the region.

Weakening winds prompted the National Weather Service today to cancel a "red flag "wildfire warning that had been in effect in eastern San Diego County.

The alert, which cautions the public about gusty conditions, low humidity levels and warm temperatures that can combine to create "explosive fire-growth potential," went into effect at 8 a.m. and was rescinded about 12:45 p.m., the NWS advised.

Winds were expected to continue decreasing in the region for the remainder of the day and on Tuesday.
