Two fires, totaling about 10-15 acres, in Ramona have been extinguished, Cal Fire Battalion Chief Nick Schuler said.

According to the battalion chief, a second fire started after the initial blaze near state Route 67 and Day Street, though California Highway Patrol originally reported the fire near Rancho Maria Lane. Schuler did not know if the fires were separate incidents or if one was sparked by an ember from the first fire.

CHP reported the brush fire at 1 p.m. and said a white truck with a BBQ in the back of the bed may have started the blaze. Schuler said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

CHP said Highway 67 was closed from Hope Street to Dye Road said the Sheriff's Department requested a SigAlert for traffic northbound on Highway 67.

CHP reported the highway was re-opened completely both ways at 4 p.m., but "heavy delays" should be expected.
