Barona Fire Captain Booked on Suspicion of Molestation

Raul Licon, Jr. was taken into custody Thursday and released on bail Friday. No information about the alleged victim has been released.

A captain with Barona Fire Protection District was arrested this week for allegedly having sex with a minor, authorities reported Friday.

Deputies took 38-year-old Raul Licon Jr. into custody at his San Marcos home Thursday on suspicion of multiple charges of molesting a person under age 18, sheriff's spokeswoman Melissa Aquino said.

Licon, who works in the Lakeside area, was booked into county jail about 12:45 p.m., according to Aquino. He posted $250,000 bail and was released less than eight hours later.

Authorities declined to release details about the accusations against the suspect, including the alleged victim's age, gender and relationship to him, if any.

Licon is scheduled to be arraigned in the case on the afternoon of March 16, said Steve Walker, a spokesman for the District Attorney's Office.
