Has anyone seen this bug?

I live on Old Julian Hwy and my husband keeps getting bit by this bug. He has such a terrible reaction, he thinks it might be fatal if we don't move from our house.  has anyone seen or been bitten by this cone-nosed beetle (aka "kissing bug")?
