Heat Wave: Record-High Temperature Recorded in Ramona

The thermometer reached 98 degrees on Sunday, breaking a 35-year-old record.

Sunday was a scorcher in Ramona, breaking the record for the highest temperature on this date. The National Weather Service said the temperature reached 98 degrees, two degrees higher than the record high for May 12 that was set in 1978.

Monday may be even hotter, with the forecast predicting temperatures pushing 100 degrees in Ramona. It will start to cool down on Tuesday, and by Wednesday the high will only reach the low 80s.

Sunday night: Clear, with a low around 61. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming light and variable. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 99. Light and variable wind becoming west 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 61. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph becoming east in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 92. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 54. West wind around 5 mph becoming southeast in the evening.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 82.

Wednesday night: Patchy fog after 11pm. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 53.
