Duncan Hunter LIVE!

Duncan Hunter recorded LIVE at the Ramona Mainstage Theater on May 19th.

On May 19th, our representative Duncan Hunter, the younger, made an appearance at a Ramona Tea Party event at the Ramona Mainstage Theater.  It was his only live/free appearance this year and the attached video may be your only opportunity to see what Mr. Hunter thinks of you, his employers.  If you are over 35, you may not like it.

Mr. Hunter spoke at a very fast rate, but sound quality of this video is adequate.  This video has not been edited.

Mr. Hunter found fault with people over 35, and especially those who rebuilt America after WWII, for putting our country in such a mess.  He even blamed his father, who gave him his current position.  His plan going forward is to build some more fence, and he would like to see manufacturing come back, but he does not think any will come to California, which he called "broken."  He offered no ideas on how he proposes to bring any jobs here.  One gets the impression he doesn't like California, and we'd all be better off if we just left the state.  To which I thought, "You first."

Hunter said he is not interested in his constituents views, as he votes HIS conscience.  He said if the voters don't like it they should vote him out.

Hunter avoided mentioning the period between 1995 and the present.  He didn't do anything, and he is not responsible for his not presenting any jobs bills (His "top priority" in the 2010 race) in the last 4 years.  It's expected that he will again reject the idea of the U.S. paying its bills because they are too high - and refuse to raise the debt ceiling.  And continue to vote "No" on all jobs bills. Hunter has advocated cutting funding for "Meals on Wheels" and assistance for the disabled in order to avoid proposed reductions to the Air National Guard - No, not the Air Force, the Air National Guard.

Hunter said a top priority was to protect our Constitutional Rights. His work against our Constitutional Rights by supporting the extension of the Patriot Act, his support for CISPA, and the NDAA reauthorization, which attack our 1st, 4th, 5th, and 6th amendment rights were not mentioned, but he did say he had a gun in his truck, which got some applause.

His other top priority is the defense industry.  He has received over half a million dollars (3 times what we pay him) for his campaign coffin from those who consider him a valuable asset in Congress.

He is not expected to be available to his constituents (employers) until after the June 5 primary.  In the 2010 election cycle, Mr. Hunter appeared only once to face his constituents (employers) with his opponents.

There is something to look forward to.  At a Small Business Expo in La Mesa this spring, both Mr. Hunter and I agreed that well-informed voters are important to good government.  I suggested to Mr. Hunter that we have a series of debates in several locations around the district on issues important to our constituents and the nation.  Mr. Hunter said, and I'm quoting, "I look forward to it." I do, too.
