Tell Us: Does McDonald's Calorie Announcement Change Your Mind?

McDonald's will post calorie information starting Monday.

Is ignorance bliss?

McDonald's restaurants in the U.S., including ours here in Ramona, will soon get a new menu addition: The number of calories in the chain's burgers and fries, according to the Huffington Post.

The world's biggest hamburger chain said last week that it will post calorie information on restaurant and drive-thru menus nationwide starting today.

The move comes ahead of a regulation that could require major chains to post the information as early as next year.

"We want to voluntarily do this," said Jan Fields, president of McDonald's USA. "We believe it will help educate customers."

So we want to know: Will the calorie content postings change what you order? Will it make you more likely to stop at McDonalds?

You should be more worried about the fact you can leave a fast food burger (from any chain in Ramona) out on a counter for months and bugs wont touch it, mold won't grow on it..... that's what should keep you away from that junk.

I applaud McDonad's for bending to the pressure to inform the public about menu choices and their caloric ruination of sound nutrition; however, there are too many better choices for those of us who want to feel better and have more energy! No fast food!!!

Not going to make a difference as I never eat there.

Oh, good lord no! Wouldn't go there regardless. However, I support the addition of calorie posting & nutritional information availability in that it's extremely important for people to make the most informed choices about what they eat, even when they're choosing poorly.

Calories are the least of the issues I have with Mac's.

Won't make a difference to me, since I don't eat their garbage, anyway. Fast food is not food! End of subject!

As a Board Certified Health Coach, the calorie content of fast food is not what I coach my clients to pay attention to - its the fact that its junk food no matter how many calories it contains. Listing calories on anything really doesn't do much to indicate "healthy" or not anyway, all it does is give the energy potential of the food, regardless of actual nutritional value.

Never eat at McDonald's. I do have a Jumbo Jack at Jack in the Box once in a while though. I think they are good and they are cheap.
