Man With Burns Flown to Hospital After Explosion on Ashley Road

Ramona Fire Department/Cal Fire responded to a report of an explosion at the 1300 block of Ashley Road and a person with burns Wednesday evening, the Sheriff's Department said.

Authorities said they arrived to the scene and a man was found on the ground with burns on approximately 45 percent of his body. MercyAir was dispatched to transport the man to a hospital.

VFW Post 3783 Commander Doug Scholl told Patch that the victim is a life member of the local post and was transported to the UC San Diego Burn Center located in downtown San Diego.

According to dispatch, the burns appeared to be electrical flash burns and San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) was being called out to investigate.

The Sheriff's Department said the apparent fire was out at 6:45 p.m.
