Weather Service Warns of Thunderstorms and Possible Flash Flooding

Tropical Storm Ivo in the Pacific Ocean off Mexico will cause thunderstorms and possible flash flooding in local mountain and desert areas.

The National Weather Service on Saturday issued a severe weather warning Saturday for mountain and desert areas of San Diego and Riverside counties.

The weather service office in San Diego warned of widely scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms with locally heavy rainfall and isolated flash flooding.

A flash flood watch is in effect for early Sunday morning through Monday evening.

The Weather Service said the locally hazardous weather is due to remnants of Tropical Storm Ivo, which developed Friday morning to the south-southwest of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
