Driver Reminder: 5-Mile Stretch of SR 78 Closed to 1 Lane June 5-12

Residents who normally take the route should expect "lengthy delays."

A five-mile stretch of state Route 78 will be shut down to one-way traffic control beginning June 5 through June 12, Caltrans announced this week.

According to the agency, the highway will be narrowed down to one lane in the Julian/Banner Grade area for roadwork from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. June 5, and 7 a.m.-5 p.m. June 6-12.

The highway will be operating normally on the weekend, Caltrans said.

Residents who normally take the route should expect "lengthy delays."

Changeable message signs will be posted in Santa Ysabel and Julian, and on SR 78 at County Route S2.
