Saturday's Fitness Fair Will Kick Off Ramona's 'Biggest Winner'

Ramona Fitness Center is hosting a fitness fair this Saturday.

You've all heard of Biggest Loser, but here in Ramona, there's only room for "Biggest Winners."

At Ramona Fitness Center, which sits at 558 Main Street, a bi-annual competition between 30 teams of four is kicking off at this weekend's Fitness Fair.

The fit-filled day will include youth and adult obstacle courses, zumba, health screenings and even fitness demonstrations.

Head trainer at the local fitness center, Kyle Wenger, told Patch he'll be a part of the fair, whipping people into shape.

"I'll be here beating up on people," Wenger joked. "So show up!"

Wenger also said that the fire department will be doing safety demonstrations and the sheriff's department will be instructing kids on bike safety at the fair.

But perhaps the most exciting part of the fitness fair is the first weigh-in for Ramona's Biggest Winner teams. Ramona's Biggest Winner is a competition between 30 teams of four, with a grand prize of $2,500 to the winning team.

Each team must consist of two non-members of Ramona Fitness Center, though there is no obligation to join the gym. Wenger said 30 teams must be signed up in order for the competition to happen and as of Thursday, 14 more teams were needed to meet that goal.

There are only two weigh-ins for the team: the initial, which will run from Oct. 6-12 and the final, which will run from Nov. 13-16. Cost is $69 for each member of a team and will include six bootcamps, one team challenge, one coach huddle, one nutrition class, one personal assessment and more.

The team that loses the most percentage of body weight will win the grand prize of $2,500, with the second place team gaining $200 worth of training gift certificates. A Biggest Winner Female and Male will be announced on Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. at the finale party.

Not up to the Biggest Winner challenge? Visit the Fitness Fair on Oct. 6 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. for healthy fun of all kinds with the whole clan.

"It's a free, family event and they're going to learn all different aspects of health and fitness," Wenger said.
