[Updated] 20-Acre Fire in Witch Creek Area 80% Contained

Mowing equipment may be to blame in blaze reported just before 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

A brush fire in the Witch Creek area that spread to 20-acres Thursday afternoon is about 80 percent contained, Cal Fire reported.

Capt. Mike Mohler said an investigation is still underway on the cause of the blaze, but mowing equipment may be to blame.

California Highway Patrol originally reported the fire just before 2:30 p.m. at the 27000 block of state Route 78.

By 3:22 p.m., Cal Fire said they had stopped the forward spread of the blaze, which originally started as 10 acres.

No structures were threatened.

Authorities said the fire is near the Witch Creek Area, at the 27000 block of state Route 78.

Cal Fire said 10-acres are ablaze, but no structures are currently threatened.
