A 16-year-old with heat exhaustion required assistance out of Cedar Creek Friday afternoon, Ramona Fire Department/Cal Fire said.

According to Engineer Thomas Shoots, the teen fainted about half a mile from the trailhead and it appeared he did not have enough water on him.

Shoots said medics from Station 81 brought him water and the teen walked out of the trail with the assistance of the medics and members of the U.S. Forest Service.

ASTREA was dispatched to the scene, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, but Shoots said the teen did not need to be airlifted out.

The 16-year-old was transported to Pomerado Hospital in stable condition, according to Shoots.

It is unknown if he was hiking by himself.
