Arrest Made in Death of 8-Month-Old Liliana Velasquez
A 19-year-old man was arrested Monday in connection to the death of an 8-month-old girl who was fatally injured July 4.
A 19-year-old man was arrested Monday in connection to the , according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
David Humberto Ortiz was taken into custody at the 2600 block of Southern Oak Road and booked into the San Diego Central Jail on one count of murder and one count of assault on a child causing death.
Ortiz's arrest is in connection with the death of Liliana Velasquez, who was injured at her home in Ramona on the Fourth of July. She was pronounced dead at Rady Children’s Hospital July 6. According to sheriff's spokesperson Lt. Larry Nesbit, Ortiz was babysitting the child at the time of her injury.

Investigators from the Sheriff's Child Abuse Unit, homicide detail and Sheriff's Crime Lab are taking part in this investigation, Nesbit said.
