Ramonan's Hotshot Prayer Read at Prescott's Firefighter Memorial

Patricia Huston wrote the prayer in 2002.

A Ramona woman's prayer was read this week at a memorial for the 19 fallen "hotshot" firefighters who perished on June 30 during a fire in Prescott, AZ.

The prayer, penned by Ramonan Patricia Huston, was written back in 2002 and published on Huston's Wildland Firefighter Wives blog in 2007.

"I never ever imagined it'd be used for such a horrific accident," Huston wrote in an email to Patch. "However, I'm honored that they used my prayer; I prayed that God would speak to people through my prayer."

Huston's prayer was read by the lone survivor of the of the Granite Mountain Hotshots at the Tuesday memorial in Prescott, 21-year-old firefighter Brendan McDonough, NBC reported.

Huston is married to her "hero," the superintendent of the Laguna Hotshots, stationed in Descanso.

"My husband will actually be home tonight, and we're so happy!!" Huston said. "He was in Prescott for the memorial service [Tuesday] for the fallen hotshots, but before that he'd been out at the Chariot Fire with his fire crew. We're ready to see our hero and our Daddy!!"

The Chariot Fire has charred about 7,000 acres and about 120 mountain cabins and other structures southeast of Julian after erupting on July 6.
