These are great ideas that CAL FIRE has given to be prepared. But what many residents haven'tRead More prepared for is; "what are you going to do about your pets?". If you have smaller house pets, you probably won't have a big problem getting them into crates or carriers and getting them out. If you have larger pets such as horses, donkeys, llamas, alpacas, cattle or anything that isn't going to fit in a carrier, are you ready to move them at a moments notice? What happens if you are down the hill when the fire starts and you can't get back? This is what Emergency Animal Rescue is here for. We are a local Ramona based rescue group that does evacuations of animals in these fires. In 2003 and 2007 we evacuated hundreds of animals from the flames. And we don't waste time taking them all the way down the hill only to be stuck in line trying to get back up to rescue more. We have places, in town, where we hold them safely and they get fed, watered and vet checked. So keep our number handy. 760-594-0751 for emergencies; 760-789-5775 for voice mail if you are interested in helping out as a volunteer (which we all are) or just asking for more information. We have been based in Ramona for over 20 years, we know what we are doing. If you'd like to help us, go to our website and download the application and submit it in. Or you can donate through PayPal from the website as well. Emergency Animal Rescue 501(c)3
