Keep up the good work Sgt. 'Not in my town". Thank you from all of us.
Molly May 13, 2013 at 05:12 pm
Much respect to the Sgt. In charge of this team! It's about time our town is cleaned up. Thank youRead More for all your hard work!

These are great ideas that CAL FIRE has given to be prepared. But what many residents haven'tRead More prepared for is; "what are you going to do about your pets?". If you have smaller house pets, you probably won't have a big problem getting them into crates or carriers and getting them out. If you have larger pets such as horses, donkeys, llamas, alpacas, cattle or anything that isn't going to fit in a carrier, are you ready to move them at a moments notice? What happens if you are down the hill when the fire starts and you can't get back? This is what Emergency Animal Rescue is here for. We are a local Ramona based rescue group that does evacuations of animals in these fires. In 2003 and 2007 we evacuated hundreds of animals from the flames. And we don't waste time taking them all the way down the hill only to be stuck in line trying to get back up to rescue more. We have places, in town, where we hold them safely and they get fed, watered and vet checked. So keep our number handy. 760-594-0751 for emergencies; 760-789-5775 for voice mail if you are interested in helping out as a volunteer (which we all are) or just asking for more information. We have been based in Ramona for over 20 years, we know what we are doing. If you'd like to help us, go to our website and download the application and submit it in. Or you can donate through PayPal from the website as well. Emergency Animal Rescue 501(c)3

Geoff DeVore May 5, 2013 at 07:22 pm
Maybe I will go to a online chat room and plan a robbery at a bank, then when th cops show up I willRead More have a shocked look on my face.
My2cents May 5, 2013 at 04:16 pm
Just figures - if I remember correctly Skylor McGee was also arrested in those home invasionsRead More earlier this year.
DEBBIE SNAVELY May 4, 2013 at 12:37 pm
Great shots Melissa! Ditto to what you said above!
Melissa Phy (Editor) May 3, 2013 at 08:31 pm
Thanks for the update, Kelly! If you snapped any photos, please send them my way atRead More melissa.phy@patch.com. Praying for a quick containment and safety for the firefighters and community!

Ramona Mom May 2, 2013 at 08:42 pm
Ramona Town Locals, or RTLS???? Don't you mean --Ramona Town Locos. Gang members? Now thats funny.
Andrew May 3, 2013 at 10:03 am
I don't know that his family will. His mom refused to bail him out last year, and he sat in jail forRead More months. The courts added his previous offense to the charges (stolen goods) so maybe he won't get off so easy this time. You can track his case (and that of max and Chris, our other stellar residents, if you visit the Who's in Jail page for the sheriff. Just google it. Skylor's next appearance is on the 10th. Bail is $30,000. Let's hope he doesn't get to work another plea deal where he turns on his friends in exchange for another chance to sell some more drugs on our streets.
Erin Bean May 2, 2013 at 11:06 am
Oh but he plead not guilty then and he's a "really nice kid, just hangs out with the wrongRead More people". According to our fellow Ramonians. Incredible! 2 serious crimes he's been caught for in 2 years. But let's defend him! Worst Criminal Ever, if you consider you don't want to get caught when you commit crimes. But Im sure he's truely innocent of this too, since we all know his family will find him a "good" lawyer.
Christine Phillips May 2, 2013 at 01:31 am
Skylor McGhee was arrested for all the hot prowl burglaries last yerar, I remember the name.
J Taliaferro May 13, 2013 at 06:17 pm
Thank you Tracy. Harmful press for a likely innocent local business and its workers.
Lou Cypher May 4, 2013 at 10:17 pm
you know Nora... even Ben Franklin thought it was sensible to use a nom de plume...
Lou Cypher May 4, 2013 at 09:57 pm
For what its worth, I have a friend who comes to Ramona to work and his cc was recently usedRead More fraudulently out of state at a Kmart (notified by his bank). For months, he has only used his credit card at two places up here, Stater Bros and Stars Gas.
Nunya Bizniss May 6, 2013 at 03:22 am
I'm not a kid, I just think everyone should mind their own business unless you personally know theRead More details of what happened. Worry about your own kids instead of wasting your time & energy bashing on people you don't know. I'm not the one on here screaming in caps at strangers. Are you on drugs, Mistiff760? McGee never stepped foot onto school grounds. He just got tricked & they went to his house & found nothing. Its known that people get harassed when they're on probation already.
Ramona Mom May 3, 2013 at 09:34 pm
Hey Kathy-- I don't use my real name for several reasons. Anyway, I dont mind you knowing who I am.Read More Just please be careful not to run into people with your shopping cart anymore.
RamonaMom May 2, 2013 at 02:41 pm
The problem is Andrew that like you siad so many parents want to keep their head in the sand andRead More don't want to believe their little angels could be smoking pot, or drinking. Can't tell you how many times I have seen kids on Instagram or Twitter showing off their underage drinking, or smoking. These kids have no consequences, and continue to do it.
Lou Cypher April 30, 2013 at 10:47 pm
hmm, cell phones? smart phones maybe? with gps and map data download capabilities, I wonder? maybeRead More we should have a new rule... no one gets to go hiking in the forest until they've passed a certification of competency test... or... if you're over 18 and you choose to go hiking and you get lost... no rescue until a couple days have passed. geez! its not like we are surrounded by a wilderness. climb a hill, look around and no doubt you'll see a house somewhere...
Joe Mcc April 30, 2013 at 10:12 pm
seriously, I'm sooo glad they remembered to take the only safety gear needed when heading out to theRead More outback, that of course would be their CELL PHONES!. That way they can possibly save their looser butts after taking off into the unknown without a clue, they don't have to worry about food, water, brain, non-cotton gear, fire starting items, map, compass, brain, warm cloths, water, brain, the least bit of knowledge about where the sun comes up, uh, in the south right? Yeah, great, up here the moss grows on all sides of the trees and the clouds and fog are a major concern, you can't see very far for land marks to find your way, most of the time there is no sun to figure out which direction you may be going, a cell phone up here as your only safety, emergency gear? your dead in 3 days, please don't forget the rescuers on your next payday, they spend their own money on their gear and they carry a lot of it, their time off work, gas, all to save the people that truly need help, you of coarse are the ones that waste our resources and time, really, they train enough, they don't need to waste time searching for brainless jerks that have never done anything for society. Get a clue and stay the hell out of the pacific north west.

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another free rescue with no penalties to the rescued hikers. Been hiking andRead More hunting our local mountains all my life never once been close to getting lost. Hiked from cuyamacas north peek all the way to Bourlder creek ends wich is the San Diego river it's impossible to get lost. If you aren't mentally prepared you don't have any bussines out there.
Big bucks May 1, 2013 at 04:28 pm
Great idea !! But I'm was just out side checking out the dogs working with the goats, and also theRead More handlers good job. Except every time a helicopter go's by they get spooked and all the goats rush the temporary fence they push it down a they get in my nieghbors yard. The handlers have there hand full, takes them anywhere from 45mins to 60mins to corral them back in the fence it's happened three different time just this morning. It's like watching a dog chase its own tail. Entertaining!!!!!!
andrea ward May 1, 2013 at 12:56 am
Actually,,sheep are better grazers and will clean up more than a goat. But,,whatever works. HaveRead More any of you ever driven along interstate 8 thru el Centro and seen the fields of sheep knockiing down alfalfa after the last cut?? They get the bushes and shrubs and grass down to the roots. Maybe goats were cheaper to get. It's still a great idea. Goats do not eat just anything,,as ppl have always thought. They will "mouth" stuff,,,but do not eat just anything. They are really quite picky in their feedings.
christine morgan April 30, 2013 at 05:48 pm
I want them to stay. They are right outside my yard and its so great to watch them. The herding dogsRead More are very cool and it was nice hearing the bleating sounds all night.
Ramona Reader April 26, 2013 at 03:19 am
Yikes, if the photo is to believed this was far smaller than a half acre. Figure an acre is aboutRead More 4000 sq meters or 63 meters on a side. That means a half acre spot fire is about 2000 sq meters or 40 meters on a side. Given a firefighter is about 2 meters high, a half acre spot would have 20 firefighters laying down, toes-to-helmets on each side. From the photo that spot was maybe six firefighters on a side or 12x12 meters? That's 144 sq meters or, like, .035 acres. That said? It could have easily been worse. Mad props to the first responders who knocked the fire down quickly and safely. With no injuries reported and no structures damaged, I say "Thanks!" to the crews and pilots who responded. Great job. :-) The fact that it was apparently held to far less than a half acre speaks well of our state and county investment in equipment, training and personnel.
Felix D. April 26, 2013 at 01:19 am
The fire dept, and law enforcement did a great job of geting right to the fire, and fire bomberRead More circled the area for what seemed quit a while to back them up. Great job Ramona responders. Thank you! Felix D.
sandra j April 25, 2013 at 10:49 pm
it just rained last night. not much, i know, but i wouldn't have been too concerned about mowingRead More today. i would have picked up any rocks first, though!
sandra j April 25, 2013 at 10:23 pm
too old? to rock and roll, or what? maybe too old to warrant punctuation?
Jane doe April 25, 2013 at 08:24 pm
That man is too old and suffers from memory loss and is on meds and requires supervision of careRead More attendant he constantly complains about the kids and I do not believe the child failed to yield but the elderly man refused to yield to the young pedestrian which had the right of way walking the proper side of street to school bus stop!!!!
Marisa Ponce de Leon April 25, 2013 at 01:31 pm
The fire was on Walnut St. and the cause was a downed SDG&E line. It was very windy that day

Alice Jacobs..you are a painfully ignorant person.
greg Chick April 20, 2013 at 11:55 pm
Alice Jacobs, I am that sarcastic person, I regret your reading education does not includeRead More Jonathan Swifts "A modest Proposal, a famous book citing using school kids skin to shoe the peoples feet. Sorry to be so cryptic. I do not smoke Pot, and rest assured the school will not be growing pot anytime soon. I got an idea, save some money up and donate it to help the school kids get an education. Friends of Ramona Unified Schools (FORUS) is in process of getting a 501 c 3 non profit status to collect money to do just that. They agree with you growing Pot to help kids might be a bit stupid... but something needs to be done, the RUSD is in deep dodo... That's a Joke, I said a pun... Regards, Greg Chick.
