Wildland Fire Hay Fund

During the last 2 big fires, Cedar and Witch Creek, Emergency Animal Rescue evacuated hundreds of animals, domestic and wild, from the flames.  We provided feed, water, vet care, exercise and a ride back home when all was safe.  Being a non-profit based here in Ramona, we do this all for free.  During those fires we were fortunate enough to be helped by the local feed stores with hay bales.  But times have gotten tougher since then.  That's why we are looking to secure a hay fund with the local hay broker to make sure we have enough to help every one we evacuate.  We also helped "Shelter In Place" which means delivering feed to those who didn't need evacuating but whose owners were down the hill and couldn't get past police lines to get back home. If you can, please go to www.indiegogo.com and do a search for Wildland Fire Hay Fund.  Donations can be made there.  As a community, Ramona is more horse oriented than most.  This makes it even more important that you have the tools to either stay and care for your animals or have the capacity to take them ALL with you.  I know you think that sounds crazy but you would be surprised by how many people have called us in those past 2 big fires with no way to get their animals out.  This not only puts them at risk, but our people as well.  Don't mis-understand me, we will come out and get your animals.  But please don't wait until the last minute.  You don't have to evacuate Ramona, but at least evacuate your premises if the fire is headed your way.  We will help you.
