Many Tots Will Have Toys, Thanks to Marines

The Marines’ Toys for Tots campaign has been collecting and distributing toys to needy children at Christmastime since 1947, and continues to grow. According to their website, the program has distributed more than 400 million toys to more than 188 million children over the years.

Last weekend, Toys for Tots accepted donations for this year’s campaign at the . Only new items are accepted in the program, and the collection was a “huge success,” according to Bo Donovan, one of the organizers.

Donovan said 35 bicycles and helmets were donated, along with 50 collection boxes overflowing with toys. Another successful year, even amid troubled financial times.
