Relay for Life of Ramona Walk Raises $45K for the American Cancer Society

The 12th annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Ramona held on April 12 -13, 2014 raised a record breaking $45,000 in support of the American Cancer Society.  An estimated 400 people in 32 teams participated in this 24-hour fun and meaningful walking event.

“It was an energetic crowd”, said Event Chair Juli Elliott. “The event was very successful.

Approximately $45,000 in donations were made during this event, $8,000 more than in 2013.”   

 Survivors and caregivers walked the track beginning with the Opening Ceremony, and then other participants joined in. Everyone paused at night during the beautiful Luminaria cermony – when lighted bags with messages and/or photos of loved ones lined the track and lit up the night to remember those we lost and hope for those who still fight.    But the day was a real celebration of life, when everyone participated in friendship, family, and fun events for adults and children at Kidz Camp.  Prizes were won, music was played and great food was enjoyed.
