Ramona Town Hall Receives $900

Disbanded group donates in memory of Beverly Ragsdale.

The board of trustees was presented with a check for $900 in memory of Beverly Ragsdale at its Aug. 17 meeting. Ragsdale was the founder of City of Ramona Now and president of the Town Hall for many years.

Bob Hailey, representing City of Ramona Now, said the group has disbanded and is donating the remainder of its treasury to the Town Hall. The group formed several years ago in an effort to seek incorporation for Ramona.

The Town Hall also is expecting another check. The request for funds from Barona Resort & Casino resulted in a $5,000 donation. Board Treasurer Sandee Salvatore said the check should be received soon.

“That should certainly take care of the air conditioning, or something like that,” said board President Woody Kirkman.

Work is progressing on the renovation of the west wing of the historic 1894 building, expected to be completed by the end of the summer.

Darrell Beck, construction committee chairman, is presently working on the recertification the sprinkler system, a requirement before the west wing can be opened to the public. It has been budgeted for $2,000. The drywall in the west wing also will be replaced.

A general clean-up day for the main hall and the grounds has been set for Sept. 17.
