Local Wines Go Loco Sept. 5 at San Diego's First "Eat Drink Local Week"

The locavore movement continues to grow in San Diego County with local Ramona wines and winemakers participating in the event downtown San Diego.

Local wines go loco! The locavore movement continues to grow in San Diego County!

I hope you’ll consider joining us at Edible San Diego’s first annual “Eat Drink Local Week” as we celebrate local, San Diego seasonal food and wines, as well as those responsible for the goods. Funds will be raised for three local nonprofits that promote healthy food and agriculture education.

Three Ramona wineries will be featured at the weeklong event on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at the “Moonlight Jazz & Local Wine Tasting.”

The event will be held on the roof-top at Lounge6, 616 J. Street, with local musicians playing jazz melodies. Wines from the Ramona Valley AVA include Scaredy Cat Ranch, Hellanback Ranch, and Ramona Ranch, along with our friends down the hill at Altipiano and a few other great, local wineries, all served with locally sourced ingredients.

If you’ve not tasted the amazing wines being made right here in San Diego County, now is  our chance in an intimate, and beautiful setting. To learn more about these wineries, and the local, Ramona emerging wine region check out www.ramonavalleywineregion.com who will also be on-hand to cover this event.

Whether curing meats for Jsix's charcuterie plate, baking fresh bread or inventing new flavors for house-made mustards, vinegars and oils, Chef Christian Graves believes in starting from scratch!

Chef Graves sets the standard for innovative, "slow food"-inspired cuisine. Fresh, local and seasonal ingredients complement his signature coastal style; in every dish, bright, clear flavors shine.

Purity is the hallmark; grass-fed meats, carefully sourced sustainable seafood from around the world, herbs from Jsix's own burgeoning rooftop garden and organic produce from nearby farms star in creatively simple preparations.

Season by season, Edible San Diego brings us an intimate view of local food and drink in San Diego, celebrating those who work to bring the freshest quality food: farmers and ranchers committed to creating healthier and more sustainable methods of working with plants, animals, and the land; locally grown produce from avocados to zucchini and everything in-between; winery’s and brewpubs to coffee roasters and food artisans. Must be 21 to attend. Purchase tickets below, or at the door.
