First ever San Diego Fair Commercial Wine Contest Is Saturday, June 9

Come taste local wines at the San Diego Fair's first commerical Wine Festival on June 9th, and meet the winners - Daily tasting opportunites, too!

Wow…the recognition and support of our amazing local wines, winemakers, and vineyards continues to grow!    For the first time ever the San Diego Fair
(I really don’t like that they changed it from the Del Mar Fair….) is holding a
commercial winery contest, limited to wines produced in San Diego County!   And…us, the public will be able to taste the winning wines and meet the wineries on Saturday, June 9th in the beautiful Paul Ecke Jr. Flower and Garden Show area from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.   $53 gets you into the fair and this event, where, with your souvenir glass, you be able to visit 35 San Diego wineries, several coming down the hill from Ramona, as well as Escondido and our friends out in East County…I know for a fact several of our local wineries and winemakers received medals.…but I won’t spoil the surprise!

If you can’t make it out on June 9th, but do plan a trip to the fair, the San Diego County Vintners Association is sponsoring free tastings at the San Diego Pavilion (infield), offering two complimentary tastes daily at 4 and 5pm.   The hosted tasting will feature four wines, generously shared by the winemaker, who will also answer any questions…and I’ve heard some local wines will be available to purchase by the glass in the infield beer garden, too!

I sure hope Ramona Ranch can participate at this great fair and contest in 2013!
