This Saturday, we'll gather at off Highland Valley Road, just east of Archie Moore Road. Take Highland Valley Road (off Highway 67), go past the Wildlife Research Institute and curve to the left, staying on Highland Valley Road. Just beyond Mile Marker 3, look for the Ramona Grasslands sign on the right. You'll see an unpaved parking lot and staging area for horses before you see the sign.

This gently undulating figure-eight loop opened last year. It winds through grasslands, chaparral and oak woodlands, passing a pond and stopping by a viewpoint with 360 degree views. The pond is a nice area to sit for a while and enjoy quiet and watch the coots.
