Ramona Softball Team Comes Back to Beat RB

Lexi Slater leads the way with four hits, including a homer, and five runs batted in.

The Ramona High softball team bounced back from a 6-1 deficit with five runs in the bottom of the second on Wednesday and went on to a 9-7 victory over Rancho Bernardo.

Lexi Slater went 4-for-4 (including a home run) with a pair of runs and five RBIs for Ramona. Slater now has a team-leading six homers and 24 RBIs on the season, and she boosted her batting average to a lofty .518. Cassie Ford and Amber Davis added doubles. Kailey Hill was the winning pitcher.

Danielle Knoetze had a solo home run for the Broncos, and Megan Andrew drove in a pair of runs.

Ramona improves to 12-13-2 overall and 2-3 in Palomar League play, while Rancho Bernardo is 13-10-1 and 4-3.

The Bulldogs visit Mt. Carmel for a 3:30 p.m. game on Friday. Their final home game is Friday, May 13, at 3:30 against Torrey Pines, when the  seniors on the Ramona team will be honored.
