Ramona Knocked Out of Girls Basketball Playoffs

Mt. Carmel eliminates the Bulldogs with a 54-40 win in the quarterfinals.

A five-point second quarter put the Ramona High girls basketball team in a hole in Friday's CIF San Diego Section Division II quarterfinals and the Bulldogs couldn't recover, falling to Mt. Carmel 54-40.

Ramona, which finished the season with a 14-16 record, trailed 16-10 after the first quarter before being outscored 14-5 in the second. The top-seed Sundevils (22-7) led 44-25 entering the final quarter.

Rae Anne VanTol had 14 points for the Bulldogs, with Paige Conroy adding 11. Erica Lohrenz led all scores with 21 for Mt. Carmel, which will meet fourth-seeded West Hills in Tuesday's semifinals. Monte Vista and Westview face off in the other semi.
