Key Fourth-Down Play Sparks Valley Center Over Bulldogs

Two late scores following a fourth-and-12 completion gives the Jaguars a 38-24 win.

Garrett Fiehler scored on a 13-yard run one play after Valley Center converted a key fourth-down pass as the Jaguars pulled away to a 38-24 win over Ramona Friday night in Valley Center.

Cody Gearhart came down with a 20-yard reception from a scrambling Ryan Kleiman on a fourth-and-12 play from the Ramona 33 and the Bulldogs ahead 24-23 with about four minutes to play.

Fiehler then carried in the go-ahead score, and after Ramona came up four yards short on a fourth-and-27 situation with 50 seconds left, Fiehler dashed 66 yards for the clinching score for the 4-1 Jaguars.

Kirk Kaliszewski rushed for 94 yards on 27 carries and scored twice for Ramona (1-4), which pulled ahead 7-0 but never led by more than a point after Valley Center pulled within 7-6.

Keyanis Crichlow scored on a 62-yard pass from Bulldogs quarterback Hunter McHargue late in the first quarter.
