Flyball Tournament Continues Sunday in Ramona

Dogs from Utah, Tucson, Phoenix, Las Vegas and all over San Diego county are competing in Ramona this weekend.

A dog's life isn't so bad this weekend if it means competing in flyball against more than 100 other contestants from throughout the southwestern United States.

About 60 teams are taking part in a lightning-speed flyball tournament at on Aqua Lane.

Corgis, whippets and all kinds of mixed breeds are tearing down the raceway, grabbing their balls and racing back to their owners, panting and looking for hugs afterward. Some are still in training and need extra encouragement.

It's accredited through the Escondido Humane Society and County Animal Services, spokesperson Val Pearson said. Local flyballers practice weekly at the Ramona venue. There are teams all over the United States and Canada, according to the group's website.
