CIF Baseball: Bulldogs on Short End of Pitchers' Duel

Ramona falls to Cathedral Catholic 1-0 on Friday but can earn another shot at the Dons with a win over Monte Vista Saturday.

It was a tough one to stomach for the no. 5-seeded Ramona High baseball team, but Friday's 1-0 loss to top-seeded Cathedral Catholic in the San Diego Section Division III playoffs was only the Bulldogs' first loss in the double-elimination tournament.

They can earn a rematch back at the Dons' field with a victory in Saturday's 11 a.m. game against Monte Vista (21-10) at Granite Hills in El Cajon. A loss would end the Bulldogs' season.

Beau Sulser tossed a four-hitter and had two hits of his own at the plate against Cathedral, but Ramona (19-13) couldn't offset a fifth-inning run by the Dons (28-4), who received a complete-game shutout from Daniel Camarena, who also drove in the game's lone run.
