Bulldogs Earn a Berth in Softball Championship Game

Ramona stays unbeaten in playoffs and will take on University City for the Division III title Saturday.

Ramona High remained the lone team without a loss in the San Diego Section Division III softball playoffs by beating Cathedral Catholic 9-7 Thursday at the Poway Sportsplex.

The victory sent the Bulldogs (17-14) into Saturday's championship game at UCSD, where they will meet  University City (24-3) in a 2 p.m. game.

Ramona fell behind 3-0 after one inning but scored four runs in both the second and third frames to pull comfortably ahead. Starter Julie Ward went into the sixth inning, when the Dons rallied for three runs. Kailey Hill earned the save by getting the final five outs.

Kailey Hill had a three-run homer for the Bulldogs. K.K. Melgoza had three hits and scored three times, and Kellsie Domnitz added three hits. Lexi Slater was 2-for-4.
