The Bulldogs reach double figures in goals and season victoriies in a 12-1 romp over the Matadors.

Reaching double figures in goals for the first time since the 2006-07 season openera span of 90 gamesthe Ramona High School boys soccer team moved into double figures in wins Tuesday with its 10th victory of the season, a 12-1 pasting of visiting Mount Miguel at Bulldog Stadium.

Double figures in goals; double figures in wins. That's what it's all about.

Placing the ball in the net had been a problem for the Bulldogs in recent years. But after head coach Michael Jordan II took over just prior to the 2008-09 season, the program elevated to the .500 plateau last season, and now sports a stellar 10-3-1 mark this winter.

"We're playing harder than ever before," added senior midfielder Ulysses Dinero, the team's other co-captain. "We stay focused and don't let little things bother us."

That might have been difficuly to do against the Matadors after Ramona smacked the goal post or the crossbar on four different occasions in the first half. However, the Dawgs finished off each play, with two resulting in goals.

Dinero took a feed from teammate Alejandro Romero, but hit the right post. However, Dinero reached the rebound for a 10th-minute goal.

Such fortuitous bounces turned the contest into a one-sided affair.

Less than two minutes later, a Dinero corner kick reached the head of Adam Dolan. Again, the ball hit the post, yet bounded into the net.

Later in the first half, Andy Garcia registered two goals and an assist, while Morgan Schmidt scored consecutive goals, as the advantage reached 7-0 by the intermission.

Meanwhile, Ramona's backline, featuring starters Ali Aparicio, Nestor Dinero, Briano Haro-Aquino and Bustos, allowed just six Mount Miguel shots all contest to make life comfortable for freshman goalkeeper Jesse Bonilla.

Mount Miguel received a 73rd-minute goal from Cesar Monterroza, but the Matadors gave it back with an own goal just 90 seconds later.
