Voter's Forum for School Board, Education Props Tonight

Learn about the candidates up for school board at the Oct. 17 voter's forum at Ramona High.

The Sun Valley Council PTA is presenting a voter's forum tonight that will feature three candidates vying for two open seats on the Ramona Unified School Board.

The forum, which will be held Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. at Ramona High School's performing arts wing, will also cover Proposition 38 and Proposition R.

Proposition 38, which is sponsored by the California State PTA, is also known as "Our Children of the Future." It is a proposed state income tax increase in order to help support public education.

Proposition R proposes a $66 million Proposition 39 General Obligation Bond measure. The measure would increase the current tax rate by a maximum $60 per $100,000 of assessed valuation. Visit RUSD's website for more information.

School board candidates Dawn Perfect, Dan Lopez, both incumbents, and John Rajcic will be present to speak on why they deserve to be on the school board for Ramona Unified Schools.

This event is open to the public and free of charge and sponsored by Sun Valley Council PTA, which represents the PTAs of each school in the district. They ask you to please understand that PTA and RUSD policies do not permit the distribution of any kind of campaign literature on campus.
