Ramona High Will Host USMC Battle Color Detachment Ceremony

The performance will be held on March 13 and include a 24-man rifle platoon.

Ramona High School is set to host the United States Marine Corps Battle Color Detachment Ceremony next week, Principal Tony Newman announced Thursday.

"We will be hosting this impressive performance next Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. during an all-school assembly," Newman stated.

The ceremony will include a Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon—a 24-man rifle platoon that performs a unique precision drill exhibition, a press release stated.

The Silent Drill Platoon dates back to the Sunset Parades of 1948, where it received such an overwhelming response that it soon became a regular part of the parades at Marine Barracks Washington, D.C., the release said.

The Battle Color ceremony at Ramona High will also feature the U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps and the Marine Corps Color Guard.
