Warm winds and a winning football game punctuated Ramona High School's Homecoming festivities Friday evening.
Seniors Jennah Hickle and Justin Sojourner were crowned queen and king at the 2012 Homecoming game before the showdown between Ramona High and Torrey Pines High even started.
Assistant Principal Kathryn Gunderson said that all students in homecoming court must be nominated by more than one teacher. Each class votes for their own winning nominee and seniors voted Hickle and Justin as the top royalty.
The five men who were up for the coveted king spot were each handed a record. Only one had a record inside labeled "king." Each of the five young women up for Homecoming Queen were given a small disco ball. Hickle's was the only one that lit up.
Other highlights of the evening included a moment of silence for Marley Pineda, former Ramona High student who passed away last week, a pre-game band show with a student-composed arrangement, a half-time show with both cheer and song teams and a winning football game with Ramona taking out Torrey Pines 38-24.
