Pauline Leavitt has been named the new principal for OPMS.

Current James Dukes Elementary Principal Pauline Leavitt has been named Olive Peirce Middle School's new principal, Ramona Unified School District Superintendent Robert Graeff announced Thursday.

Leavitt's new position will be effective July 1 this year.

Current OPMS Principal Linda Solis, who received the "Principal of the Year" award for San Diego County this year, announced her retirement last month, according to the Ramona Sentinel.

Leavitt has served as principal at James Dukes for the past two years, Graeff said, and spent the four prior years as assistant principal at OPMS.

"Pauline is ideally suited to take the helm at Olive Peirce in the new school year," Graeff stated. "Although Pauline is saddened to leave James Dukes after working so well with the staff, parents and students of that close-knit school community, she is very excited about returning to middle level education and the OP campus on Hanson Lane where she got her start in Ramona Unified six years ago."
