Heart screening at Ramona High

The school hosts a “Sudden Cardiac Arrest” screening for teens, in light of high-profile cases where teens have died of undetected heart ailments.

Scripps Hospital will be on-site with cardiac testing equipment. The event is sponsored by the Eric Paredes Save-a-Life Foundation, which honors Eric, a Spring Valley high school student who died in 2009.

Since last fall, the testing has detected 11 teens who needed further treatment.
