Ramona Family to Showcase Home's 'Solar System'

Baker Electric Solar is hosting an open house at a Bellemore Drive home to discuss solar power systems and how they can reduce residential utility costs.

Ramona's Behrns family is opening its home this weekend to show off a residential solar installation it says has reduced utility costs, and give locals the chance to talk solar power with the company behind the installation, Baker Electric Solar.

"It’s time for homeowners who have electric bills on average higher than $160 a month to look into renewable energy," Andrew Berlin, the company's residential sales manager, said in a statement. "We want to extend our thanks to the Behrns’ for hosting the solar open house so others can see how affordable and easy it is to go solar.”

The home, at 25835 Bellemore Dr. in the San Diego Country Estates, is the fifth SunPower system in the neighborhood, according to a news release. Baker Electric Solar, which said it has more than 42 solar systems installed or in process in Ramona, called this community an "ideal location" because of its year-round sun.

The Ramona family's system includes 18 SunPower E20/327 panels, a SunPower 5000m inverter, solar monitoring and connection to the utility meter.

The solar open house is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Behrns home, 25835 Bellemore Dr.
